He is survived by: his children, Crystal Wood (Shane Miller), Elizabeth Whittington (David) and William Thacker; his grandchildren, Kaydence Thacker, David Wood, Ellie Mae Miller, Damion Miller, Savannah Ridgeway, Laela Whittington, Eli Whittington and Finn Whittington; his great grandchild Branson Cole; and his brothers, Dolphus Allen Thacker, Jr. (Cheryl) and Hugh Thacker (Ginny). He is also survived by numerous other family members and his special friends.

In lieu of flowers the family gratefully asks that memorials be made to The Autism Society of North Carolina.
