He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas "Tuck" Lynch Snipes and Thenia Howard Snipes; his great grandchild Callie Elaine Lyman; and his sister Lora Snipes Sparrow. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Sheets Snipes; his children, Karen Snipes of Durham, Kelley Lauer of Chapel Hill, Thomas E. Snipes (Karen) of Chapel Hill and Michael Phillips (Tina Faucette) of Haw River; his grandchildren, Kerri Snipes, Kadie Snipes, Dylan Phillips and Haley Phillips; his great grandchild Jacob Lyman; and his sisters, Carolyn Lloyd (Paul) of Chapel Hill and Frankie Jones (David) of Pittsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center or UNC Hospice.
