He was loved and cherished by many people including: his former wife Pattie Frances Wagner; his father Robert; his wife Lucy Kirby; his son David McBroom (Robin); his stepdaughter Cheryl Durham (Jerry); his grandchildren, Stacie Holsonback (Raymond) and Megan Phillips (Stephen); his stepgrandchildren, Chase Durham and Clayton Durham (Paige); his great grandchildren, Colin, Cameron Gilliam, Waylan and Weston Phillips; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Sophia and Bert Durham; and his sister Frances Fox.

The family has designated The Hospice Home in Burlington for memorial contributions.

“Sorry to hear of Robert's Passing Lucy and the rest of the Family. We used to see him sometimes at his Brother ( Marvin Mcbroom's) home, and at his Car Lot in Hillsborough before he closed it. We also ran into them out eating occasionally. He was always friendly and in a happy mood. I know he will be Dearly Missed by his Family. God's Blessings to all his Family and Friends.
