He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Wesley and Lodie Heath Freshwater. He is survived by: his wife Catherine Sykes Freshwater; his children, Shannon F. Long and Col. Brian N. Freshwater; his grandchildren, Payton Long, Emery Long and Sophie Freshwater; and his siblings, Fay Whited, Sue Clark (Caudell), Danny Freshwater (Gloria) and Wesley Freshwater (Sandra). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
