It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joy Shotwell Hurst of Mebane, North Carolina, born in Roxboro, North Carolina, who passed away on December 20, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Sarah Strickland Shotwell Matthews and William Alfred Shotwell, Sr.; her husband Harold Henry Hurst; her brother William Shotwell Jr.; and her grandson Kyle Ray Taylor.
She is survived by: her children, Carlton Morrison (Deana), Tracy Morrison (Kelly), Eric Hurst (Carmen), Sonna Wilburn and Teresa Hurst; and her niece Suzanne Shotwell. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
