He is survived by: his children, Shirley Crisp (Pete), Dorothy Benbow, Lawrence Benbow (Ree) of Mebane, NC, Mary Ann Graves (Rodney) of Fayetteville, NC and Elizabeth Lambert (Wilma Vincent); his grandchildren, Cheryl, Tiffany, Alicia, Phillip, Edgar, Jr., Corey and Amber; his great grandchildren, Jasmine, Kamiya, Jordan, Akura, Daylin, E'Marion, Mariah, Davin, Camryn and Daxton; his niece Margaret "Molly" Tinnin; and his siblings, Joe C. Gibson of Miami, FL, Johnny N. Gibson of Hamden, CT, Ollie Mae Dunmore of Lane, SC, Margaret Ayers of New York, NY, Mattie Mae Salters, George Gibson, Edward Dukes, Queen Ester Brown and Marie Parson.
