He was predeceased by: his father James Ray. He is survived by: his mother Doris Cothren Absher of Roaring River; his wife Tammy Felts Absher; his son Kevin Nicholas Absher (Brittany Faith LaRue) of North Wilkesboro; his siblings, Shannon Comer (Davis) of North Wilkesboro, Michael Absher (Terri) of Roaring River and Sherry Evans (Tony) of Elkin; and his siblings-in-law, Terry Felts and Sandra Money.
His band along with other bands did a lot of benefit concerts for Veterans, where he played with Moonshiner Chuck, and often played at the Boone Bike Rally doing charity benefits.
