She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Jennings and Dona Dillard Jennings; her husband James Shumate; her daughter Judy Shumate Harrold; and her siblings, Dell Bell, Dealia Young, Don Jennings, Herman Jennings, Harrison Jennings and Bill Jennings.
She is survived by: her children, Patricia Shumate Ladd (William) of McGrady, Tim Shumate of McGrady, Larry Shumate (Elizabeth) of North Wilkesboro and Ronald Shumate (Gail) of Millers Creek; her grandchildren, Tanya Blankenship, Bryan Ladd, Courtney Shumate, Chad Shumate, Scotty Shumate and James Harrold; her brothers, Lonnie Jennings (Erie) of North Wilkesboro and Barney Jennings (Betty) of McGrady; and her pet Buffy. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
