He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Gilbert and Betty Gilbert; and his wife Anna Louise Gilbert. He is survived by: his children, Nancy L. Shepard of Maysville, Samuel J. Gilbert Jr. of Middlesex, NJ, Mark W. Gilbert of Woodbridge, VA and Jack K. Gilbert; and his pet Fern. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
