He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, James P. Tharp Jr. (Tanya Tharp) of Jacksonville, NC and Sarah J. Tharp of Jacksonville, NC; his siblings, Charles T. Tharp (CJ Tharp) of Toms River, NJ, William Tharp of Jacksonville, NC, David Tharp of Hingham, MA and Karen Tharp Kahlert (William J. Kahlert) of Maysville, NC; and his grandchildren, Tiera Negron, Elias Tharp, Sylias, Jasper and Hyacinth Cook. He was also cherished by 7 nephews and 4 nieces.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jim's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Dr. Robert M. Fales, Lower Cape Fear Hospice Wilmington, NC.
