He was predeceased by: his parents, Julian L. Strickland and Peachie Hodge Strickland; and his siblings, Charles Whiteside, George Whiteside, Owen Whiteside, Jerry Strickland and Phyllis Strickland Weatherspoon.
He is survived by: his daughter Jamie Vernon (Marcus) of Madison; his grandchildren, Jayden Johnson and Alex Vernon; his daughter Heather Johnson-Long (Phil) of Ramsey, IL; his sisters, Minnie L. Morris of Chicago, IL and Juanita Faye Gray of Paducah, KY; and his nieces, Felicia Weatherspoon-Howe (Kevin) of Paducah, KY and Sheree Strickland Riney (Brant) of Florissant, MO. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
