He was predeceased by: his father Walter Locklear; his wife Kattie Locklear; his son James "Rooster" Evans of Laurinburg; and his siblings, Silas Locklear of Concord, Lena "Moose" Locklear of Maxton and Martha "Mammie" Cowick of Rockingham.
He is survived by: his grandson Chris Evans; his daughter-in-law Doris Evans of Laurinburg; his stepchildren, Leverne Gibbs of Fairmont, Janice Gibbs of Maxton, Jeralene Menges (Mitch) of Rock Hill, S. C. and Wade Gibbs (Mercy) of Winston-Salem, N. C.; and his stepgrandchildren, Collin Gibbs of Winston-Salem, Grace Gibbs of Winston-Salem, Isaac Rock of Winston-Salem, Daniel Rock of Winston-Salem, Mary Rock of Winston-Salem, Naaman Rock of Winston-Salem, Caleb Menges, Rachel Menges of Rock Hill, S. C, Ellen Kate Gibbs of Raleigh, N. C. and Grandma. He is also survived by 30 nieces and nephews.
