He is survived by: his wife Jenny Chavis of Maxton; his daughter Terri Chavis Smithwick (Robert) of Oak Island, NC; his siblings, Carolyn Chavis of Charleston, Tammy Hunt (Wilbert) of Maxton, Fredia Locklear (Billy) of Maxton, Ronald Chavis (Kathy) of Rowland, Dennis Chavis (Carolyn) of Rowland and Charles Chavis of Myrtle Beach, SC; his granddaughter April Barton (Johnell) of Fayetteville; and his close friends, Billy and Patsy Locklear.
