George Ann Barnes Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Ann Barnes of Maxton, North Carolina, who passed away on April 3, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mack Daniel Barton and Magdalene Locklear Barton; her husbands, Walter Shan Strickland and Ted Barnes; her sons, William H. Strickland, Jack Strickland and Wildon Strickland; her grandsons, David Keith Goins, Robert Strong and Josh Jones; her great grandchildren, Julian Strickland and Fermin Cruz Alveraze Jr.; and her brothers, Thurman Barton, Clilton Barton, Mack Barton Jr., Raymond Barton and Billy Barton.
She is survived by: her children, Johnny Strickland (Stephanie) of Maxton, Jimmy Strickland (Nobalene), Jane Strickland of Maxton and Faye Clark of Maxton; her sisters, Erma Lee Bullard, Lottie Pearl Bullard (James Ellis), Mary Lee Bullard (Waymon), Goldie Berry (Kenny), Jackie Dunn (Leroy) and Jan Bullard; her great great grandchild Edward Locklear (Ladana); and her daughter-in-law Carol Locklear. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, fifty-nine great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home (812 S Main St, Red Springs, NC 28377). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
