He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Chavis; his children, Ernie Chavis (Brenda), Timmy Chavis (Darlene) and Karen Chavis Clark; his siblings, Clyde Chavis (Annie Mae), Rev. Donald Chavis, Dennis Chavis, James Douglas Chavis (Debbie), Cathy Emanuel (David) and Betty Oxendine; his grandchildren, Ana Chavis, Maranda Strickland, Adrian Chavis, Alec Chavis, Zachary Chavis and Mason Clark; and his great grandchildren, Braydon McMillan and Michael Sagano.
