It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ben James Strickland of Maxton, North Carolina, who passed away on September 10, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Alexander, Darcas Strickland, George and Easter Locklear; his parents, Paul Strickland and Flossie Strickland Locklear; his former wife Vickie Watson Strickland; his siblings, Carson Locklear, Emlin Locklear, Harold Locklear, Norma L. Oxendine and Helen Locklear; and his children, Kevin Strickland, Millard Locklear and Mary Strickland.

He is survived by: his wife Josephine Stanton Strickland; his son Steven M. Strickland; his grandson Steven V. Strickland; his great grandchildren, Justin M. Strickland, Victoria R. Strickland and Summer A. Strickland; his great great grandchild David L. Badger; and his siblings, Billy Locklear, Eunice Lee and Patricia Sattler.
