It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas S Franklin III (Matthews, North Carolina), who passed away on April 21, 2018, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Kirkman Franklin; his granddaughter Anna Estelle Burkhead; and also Thomas Skinner Franklin, Sr. of Charlotte. He is survived by: his parents, Thomas Skinner Franklin, Jr. and Estelle Dowdee Franklin; his children, Margaret Hope Franklin Vitale (Alex Vitale) and Thomas Skinner Franklin, IV; his wife Mary; and also, Randall Kirkman Franklin (Cherri), Scott LeGette Franklin (Miriam) and Mayor of Charlotte. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cornwell Center of Myers Park Baptist Church, 2001 Selwyn Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28207 in memory of Tom Franklin.
