He is survived by: his wife Betty Haywood Lathan; his daughter Linda Walden of Charlotte; his grandsons, Charlie of San Francisco and Alex (Hannah) of Iwakuni, Japan; his son David Lathan (Dana); his grandchildren, Ariel and Joshua of Weddington; and his daughter Laura Simons (Kirk) of Waynesville.
