She was predeceased by: her husband James Paul Childres, Jr.; her parents, Bud Carlton and Margaret Willis Thomas; her sister Lila Geraldine "Gerry" Thomas Skinner; her great grandchild Selwyn Elizabeth Ray; her sister-in-law Judith "Lucky" Hickman Thomas; and her friend Doris Belnome.
She is survived by: her daughter Teresa "Terri" Childres Ray (Robert) of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Robert Rankin Ray IV (Virginia) of Belmont, NC and Susannah Ray Cook (Trevor) of Charlotte; her great grandchildren, Lila Kathryn Cook and Peyton Grace DeBerry; her brother David Carlton Thomas; and her brother-in-law Malcom Skinner.
