He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Sikes Hilton; his parents, John Thomas and Mary Washington Hilton; his daughter Constance Zamora; and his siblings, Tom, Bill, Sam, Abe, Sue, Nancy and Linda.
He is survived by: his stepsons, Robert Spencer of Charlotte, NC and Michael Spencer of Charlotte, NC; his daughters, Katherine Knight of Lincolnton, NC and Holly Hilton of Crouse, NC; and his sisters, Janie Warnock of Mooresville, NC and Ann Lane of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
