He was predeceased by: his brother Zeb Milton Rea, Sr.; his parents, Zeb and Nancy; his brothers, Tom and Watson; and his siblings-in-law, Louise, Doris, Ruth, Nancy, Janie, Watt Huntley, Don Blankenship, Paul Dellinger and Mike Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Dottie; his children, John Jr., Sunny Rea Green (Tyre) and Joe; his grandchildren, Jackson, Laurel and Sam Green; his great grandchild Lilah Green; his siblings, Virginia Rea Huntley, Betsy Rea Blankenship, Judy Rea Hucks (Paul), Willie Rea, Sr. (Carolyn) and Ralph Rea; and his sisters-in-law, Carol Martin, Joy Wilkinson (Bobby) and Carol "Snookie" Dellinger. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
