It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janet Spurlin Carpenter of Matthews, North Carolina, born in Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Grover Cleveland Spurlin and Kate Presson Spurlin; her husband Cecil Benton Carpenter; and her siblings, Donald Spurlin, Jerry Spurlin and Jean Spurlin Allen.
She is survived by: her children, Michael Madison James (Diana), Katherine James Robertson (Mark) and Donna James Miller (Jack); and her grandchildren, Patrick James, Andrew James (Logan), Anthony Ciucevich Jr. (Kelsey Levanson), Sarah Creech (Ben) and Jacob Davis. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
