He was predeceased by: his parents, James and Eva; his brother Paul Karis; and his siblings-in-law, Edith Karis and Eddie Rector, Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Annette; his children, John Karis (Barbara) of Matthews and Lisa Brandon (Dick) of Belton; and his sister Louise Matson of Lincoln.
