It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Garnet Louise Oakes (Matthews, North Carolina), born in Williamson, West Virginia, who passed away on January 13, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Eula Ward and Lafe Ward; her husband Walter C. Oakes; her son-in-law Jim Burford; and her brothers, Wilbur, Lafe and Ogden Ward.
She is survived by: her children, David (Mysti), Stephen (Colleen) and Debbie Burford Baker (Chuck); her grandchildren, Matthew Oakes, Michael Burford (Emily), Sarah Burford, Ryan Oakes (Liz), Brady Oakes (Christa), Morgan and Spencer Guy; and her brother Lindy Ward of Memphis, TN..
