He is survived by: his wife Linda Bateman Rothwell of Charlotte; his grandson William Brandon Brown (Tiffany) of Eau Claire; and his stepchildren, Brandt D Lawing (Rebecca) of Waxhaw, NC, Sean B Lawing (Beth), Tracy Lawing Rule (Tyson) and Valerie Lawing Scheid (Daniel) of Indian Trail, NC. He is also survived by 12 step grandchildren.
