It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ellis Nelson of Matthews, North Carolina, who passed away on January 29, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family in the guestbook on this memorial page of Ellis Nelson to show support.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Nelson and Annie Bell Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Janet Nelson; his sons, Ellis, Travis Leggett, Sean Ellis Nelson and Kenyatte Nelson; his stepchildren, Bishop Wade H. Ferguson III and Tammy F. Blackmon; his sister Rena Nelson (Ellis); and also Ellis. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren- including Janet's seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mark's United Methodist Church (917 Clanton Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Denmark Technical College National Alumni Association (P.O. Box 327, Denmark South Carolina 29042-0327), in memory of Mr. Ellis Nelson.
