It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward Franklin Ghent of Matthews, North Carolina, who passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelly Avery Ghent Sr. and Peral Bayne Ghent; and his sister Shelly "Avery" Ghent Jr. (Mary Lucille "Lucy" Ghent). He is survived by: his wife Shirley Boatwright Ghent; and his brother William "Bill" Alonzo Ghent.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church (238 Fort Mill Hwy, Fort Mill, SC 29707).
