He was predeceased by: his parents, Lacy Ray and Effie Mae Strider (Graves); and his siblings, Lena Mae Baker (Strider) and David Harold Strider. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Joanne Strider; his former wife Nancy Carol Yow; his siblings, Betty Jo Cross (Strider) and Samuel Lee Strider (Kathy); and also, Jeffrey Matthew Bunch (Laura), Elizabeth Irene Hawks (Bunch), Patricia Annette Frame (Gary), Michael Ray Strider (Shelly) and John David Strider (Christy). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews, and 4 nieces.
In lieu of flowers, he requested charitable donations so the monies would be better served to help others. Suggested charities are: Novant Health Hospice, Parkinson's Research and Alzheimer's Association.
