He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara; his son David; and his brother Roger. He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Thurman (Jerry) of Olon, Ecuador, Diane Alexander (Clay) of Rock Hill, SC, Brooke Sykes Jr. (Gail) of Columbia, TN and Brenda True (Mark) of Charlotte, NC; his siblings, William "Bill" H. Sykes of Algonac, MI and Harriet Sykes-Keuter; and his grandchildren, Dale, Brooke Ann, Jesse, Katie, Rachel, Charlie, Shelby, Brandon, Alex and Kyle. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, friends as well as his church family.
In lieu of flowers, the family thinks donations are for the birds.
