He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Franklin and Louise Debruhl Franklin; and his brother Dennis Franklin. He is survived by: his spouse Sheri P. Franklin; his children, Nikki Penland (Jon Poulin) of Mars Hill and Eric Franklin of Marshall; his siblings, Stevie Joe Franklin (Shirley) of Weaverville, Ray Franklin (Janice) of Alexander and Sheila Marsh (Rick) of Alexander; and his grandchildren, Dani Penland, Justin Banks and Logan Penland.
