He was predeceased by: his parents, Cletus Thomas and Hazel Chandler Thomas; and his sister Sharon Brown. He is survived by: his close friend Paula Tweed; his brother Richard Thomas; his nieces and nephews, Becky, Richard, Jr. and Stacey; and his stepgrandchildren, Trisha, Emily and Charlie.
