With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Helen Sawyer Ponder in Marshall, North Carolina, who passed away on July 10, 2023 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Monroe Sawyer and Bertha Davis Sawyer; her husband Bobby; her son Robert; and her siblings, Adaline, Norman and Lucille.
She is survived by: her daughter Debbie (Darell); her daughter-in-law Rhonda; her grandson Daniel Foulks; her great grandchildren, Landan, Dane and Kendall; her niece Ann Peek (Sammy); her nephews, Ray Cantrell (Rita), Bob Hargis and Bill Hargis (Josephine); and also, Cathy and Tony Stills. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Flowers are appreciated or memorial donations may be made to Elderberry Health Care, 415 Elderberry Lane, Marshall, NC, 28753, Attn: Activity Dept. (Where Helen was known as the "Bingo Queen".) At other times the family will be at her daughter's home at 115 Church Rd in Hot Springs.
