He is survived by: his wife Sandra Messer; his children, Fred Messer, Jr., Jesse Messer and Angela Messer Honeycutt (Stanley); and his stepchildren, Shawn Thompson, Jonathan Freeman (Erika) and Dawn Stanley (Ashley). He is also survived by several grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
