With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas Elmore Taylor of Marshall, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 21, 2025 at the age of 83. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Taylor and Bertie Taylor (Miller); his wife Brenda Abernethy; and his siblings, Zane, Troy Taylor, Nena Taylor and Lorena Moore.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kimberly Jamison (Steve), Autumn Conklin (Kevin) and Nicole Norton (Steve); his grandchildren, Stephanie Jamison, Brandon Freeman (Brooklynn), Taylor Jamison, Caleb Abernethy (Elizabeth), Garrin Freeman (Molly) and Heidi Freeman; and his siblings, Helena Hanna (late Fred), Alta Crocker (late Grant), Leathia Conrow, Maxine Cooke (late Jim), Ermine De Yarman (Rick), Tommy, Maynard (Shirley), Philip (Berneice), Ronnie (Judy), Tony (Judith) and Earnie Taylor (Gunda). He is also survived by nieces and nephews, close friends, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Turkey Creek Baptist Church (2206 Bear Creek Rd, Leicester, NC 28748). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, April 27th 2025 at the same location.
