It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Usher Sowell (Marshall, North Carolina), who passed away on November 14, 2019, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Lee Usher and Ruby Thomas Usher; her siblings, Kenneth Usher and Louise Casey; and her brother-in-law Lloyd Cox.
She is survived by: her husband John Lee Sowell, Sr.; her son Johnny Sowell (Stacia); her grandchildren, Shelly Chandler (Jeremy) and Cassy Lee Sowell (Cody Giles); her great grandchildren, Noah Chandler and Cason Giles; her siblings, Rev. Eddie Usher (Julie), Betty Cox, Sissy Whitley (Zeb) and Cathy Fant; and her sister-in-law Rose Usher. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Attn: Memorial Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
