He was predeceased by: his parents, Dosser Metcalf and Bonnie English Metcalf; and his siblings, Kelly, Vaughn, Ellis Metcalf, Doris Flasher and June Orr.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Ponder Metcalf; his children, Dale Metcalf of Mars Hill, Joan Blankenship (Owen) of Mars Hill, Angie Metcalf of Weaverville, NC and Vickie Marino of Fairview, NC; and his sisters, Sharon Metcalf and Teddi Kiser of Maiden, NC. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
