It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Horace Rice Jr. (Mars Hill, North Carolina), who passed away on January 7, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Grady of Mars Hill and Olivia "Ollie" Buckner Rice of Mars Hill; and his wife Verna Mae Wilde Rice. He is survived by: his daughter Gail R. Grindstaff (Johnny) of Weaverville; his granddaughter Savanna C. Grindstaff of Mars Hill; and his sisters, Ruby Rice (Charles Raymond) of Weaverville and Reba Wilde (Lester) of Weaverville. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
