Evelyn Hunter Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Evelyn Hunter (Mars Hill, North Carolina), born in Madison, North Carolina, who passed away on April 13, 2020 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Hampton Buckner and Lora Bailey Buckner; her foster parents, Joe J. Edwards and Lula Buckner Edwards; her husband James Stanley Hunter; her siblings, Wilda Balderson, Pauline Jenkins, Blanche Kelley, James and Troy Buckner; her son-in-law Eric Whitey Gillis; her grandchildren, Timothy Gillis, Rodney Hunter and Michelle Hunter; and her great grandchild Everett Piervicenti.

She is survived by: her children, Lora Gillis, Joseph Garland Hunter (Barbara) and James Sidney Hunter (Diane); her granddaughters, Erica Pope (Jered), Tiffany Gillis, Tina Robinson, Shanna Parrington, Tabitha Hunter, Stephanie Bandish (David), Leslie Hunter, Laura Piervicenti (Nick) and Alexis Hunter; her sisters-in-law, Nina Hunter and Georgia Hunter; and her cousin Carol Worley. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19 the family will announce a Memorial Service to be held at a later date.
