He was predeceased by: his parents, Champ Sr. Rice and Sophia Norton Rice; and his sister Reva Allison. He is survived by: his daughters, Donia Rice and Melissa Rice Embler; his siblings, Clara Ball, Evelyn Meadows, Jeter, Jack and Champ Jr. Rice; his grandchildren, Dustin, Joshua and Jaidyn Embler; and his great grandchild Chloe Embler. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
