He is survived by: his wife Kelli Coates; his sons, Neil Coates (Emily), Ryan Craine and Timothy Murray; his siblings, Sheila Coates Chandler (Eric) and Calvin Coates; and his grandchild Quinn Coates. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
