With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Pruitt Lanning of Marion, North Carolina, born in Henderson, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 11, 2024 at the age of 82. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harvey Pruitt and Betsy Pruitt; her children, Boyd, Joe Thomas and Cathy Thomas; her sisters, Mary Lou Edwards and Betty McMahan; her granddaughter Hannah; and her great grandchild Emalee.
She is survived by: her husband Joseph; her children, Clifton Thomas (Cheryl) of Marion, Cindy Edwards (Gus) of Marion and Amanda Robertson; her sister Ruth Honeycutt of Hendersonville; her daughters-in-law, Debi Thomas and Martha Thomas; her grandchildren, Josh, Richard, April, Thelma, Becky E., Peggy, Kevin, Sandra, Caine, Becky T., Jessica, Cody, Kara, Arabella, Cheyenne and Fallon; and her great grandchildren, Jacob, Jade, Cooper, Colton, Pollyanna, Jeremiah, Bo, Angela, William, Issac, Amber, Alexia, Ami, Albert, Landon, Derek, Abigail, Ryan, Diamond, Simon, Avery, Brayleigh, Ali, Nathaniel, Fynnley, Brianna, Melvin and Sophia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
