He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Decatur Chapman and Olive Mae Crane Chapman; and his siblings, Ronald Chapman and Yvonne Shehan (James). He is survived by: his children, Jessica Chapman and Ian David Chapman; his stepchildren, Mia Mills, Jeremy Guffey, Ashton McCarson and Stephanie Morrison; and his sister Donna Ellis of Gastonia. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren.
