He was predeceased by: his daughter Sonja Lee Cahoon; and his brother Norman Sawyer. He is survived by: his significant other Polly L. Sawyer; his son-in-law Loubet Cahoon; and his grandchildren, Seth Landon Cahoon and Sarah Katarina Cahoon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
