He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Elizabeth Hawkins Pettaway; his sons, Michael Pettaway (Lisa) of Chesterfield and James A. "Bird" Pettway (Barbara) of Manson; his grandchildren, Damian, Talisa, Shakilven and Maia Pettaway; his godson Frantwon Dortch; his niece Audrey Bullock of Durham; his sister Bettie Paschall of Washington, D. C.; his son-in-law Calvin Jones of Richmond, Virginia; his siblings-in-law, Patsy Chase of Manson, Albert Hawkins of Philadelphia and Thurston Quinitchette of Middleburg; and his close friend Alex Terry of Manson. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
