He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wesley and Helen Matthewson Shumake (Madison); and his sisters, Becky Lemons and Francile Cardwell. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Coleman Shumake; his daughters, Kim Caudle (Rob) of Pine Hall and Lisa Shumake; his grandchildren, Ethan Trogdon (Mariama Alizor-Ortega) of Las Vegas, NV, Dalton Berry of Pine Hall and Emily Nix (Bryan) of Florida; his great grandchildren, Wyatt and Sterling Nix; his brother Gary Shumake, Sr. of Stokesdale; his siblings-in-law, Jeanette Albert of Stokesdale and Joseph Raymond Coleman, Jr. of Mayodan; and his grandpaws, Charlie, Kira and Sebastian. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
