Minister Matthew was loved and cherished by many people including: children, Jacqueline Johnson (Reginald) of Dallas, Clyde Wayne of Dallas and Darryl Reeves of Dallas; and sister Virginia Crawford of Dallas, Texas. Minister Matthew was also cherished by eleven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Viewing was held on Sunday, October 27th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the R. H. Greene Funeral Service (109 Front St, Warrenton, NC 27589). A celebration of life was held on Monday, October 28th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (874 Waviely Thompson Rd, Macon, NC 27551). A burial was held on Monday, October 28th 2024 at the same location.
