He was predeceased by : his parents, Jim Bates and Edna Sanders Bates; and his sisters, Beatrice Bates and Sue Woodall. He is survived by : his wife Rachel Bates; his daughter Tracy Bates; his stepdaughters, Janice Cope and Lynn Webb; his stepgrandchildren, Robert Cope, Michael Sanders, Adam Sanders and Carol Sanders; and his siblings, Judy Dodgins, Linda Llanas, Patsy Coburn, Sally Ledford, Brenda Melton and Ronnie "Hoss" Bates.
