He was predeceased by : his parents, Merle Hempstead and Violet Alice Miller Hempstead; his nephew Tommy Hempstead; and his wife Betty Ann Hempstead. He is survived by : his sons, Rod Hempstead (Sheena) and Matthew "Matt" Hempstead (Angie); his stepchildren, Corrine "Cory" Lawler (Kyle) of Paul's Valley, OK and David Wayne Johnson (Shannon) of Colfax; his brothers, Jeffrey Hempstead (Janet) of Columbus and Gregory Hempstead (Karen) of El Paso; and his nephew Jimmy "Jim" Hempstead.
