He was predeceased by: his parents, Grant Duncan and Moree Johnson Duncan; and his sister Kay Jones. He is survived by: his wife Mary Frances Story Duncan; his children, Alan Duncan of Lynn and Sheila Thompson of Lynn; his grandchildren, Colin Thompson, Walker Thompson and Caitlyn Thompson; his son Larry W. Duncan of Shelby; his siblings, Craig Duncan of Shelby, Bill Duncan of Shelby, Doris Duncan of Shelby and Elizabeth Reid of Shelby; and his siblings-in-law, Lydia Wylie (Mack) of Tennessee and Jack Story (Louise) of Lynn.
