He is survived by: his wife Diane Murphy; his children, Richard Murphy, Melvin Murphy, Jr., Wade Jackson (Stephanie), Adriene Murphy, Melanie Murphy, Arley Murphy, Cynthia Ellis (Chris) and Christal Kemp; and his siblings, Arthur Murphy, Elizabeth Shealy and Mildred Murphy. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
